The Last of Us S1E3 Thoughts

  1. This week, we are getting Bill and Frank action and I’m so excited to see more of the backstory about them. And I just want to see Ellie and Bill go toe-to-toe.
  2. This episode is just titled Episode 3.
  3. I love that they kept the throw a sandwich at them line in the recap.
  4. Is this Frank or Bill we are seeing first?
  5. Nope, it’s Joel.
  6. Oh man. It’s a little memorial for Tess. That hurts.
  7. Only ten miles away from Boston. I hope they walk fast.
  8. Yes Ellie. He can’t blame you for Tess dying. I’m glad she didn’t let him just keep icing her out.
  9. That bridge is so pretty.
  10. Oh, so Joel has met Frank.
  11. All those missed shots in the game getting called out.
  12. Almost, Ellie. Almost.
  13. I love that Ellie did not stay back at all.
  14. Not Mortal Kombat. And that reference to Riley. I’m hurting more.
  15. Time to loot.
  16. What’s Ellie going to find in there? Ooh, secret door.
  17. Ellie, going into the cellar is how we find things we don’t want to find.
  18. WHY HAVE I NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT THAT BEFORE?
  19. God, having your period in the apocalypse has got to suck.
  20. Well, hello there Mr. Infected. I don’t think you can get out.
  21. It’s like it’s talking to her. Maybe it is, since she was bitten. Can it sense she was bitten too?
  22. This really is not the show to eat while watching.
  23. So, they do bleed. Sort of. I’m a bit confused by that. I didn’t think they bled earlier in the show.
  24. Well, Joel found his stuff.
  25. Joel really left a gun behind because there’s not a lot of ammo around. He clearly hasn’t played the game.
  26. Ellie is askig the really questions.
  27. Now that sounds familiar.
  28. NOT THE PANCAKE MIX
  29. I read that someone on Reddit came up with the theory about the flour causing it. And they were right. Does that mean those who are gluten-free were safe from the initial outbreak?
  30. Oof, not the pit of bones from those the government didn’t have room for.
  31. Damn government really said screw everyone else.
  32. Who knows. Maybe one of those that was killed was also immune.
  33. Oh, not the baby.
  34. Is this Bill? How’d he get access to the cameras?
  35. Oh, he hacked them and is hiding from the soldiers.
  36. Damn, Bill was the smart one here.
  37. So, he was an apocalypse preparer guy. And all those bottles of wine in his house. Man is really prepeared.
  38. Now Bill has a town and does what he wants.
  39. Bill legit knows how to survive. And more wine is always needed.
  40. That looks like a nice homemade generator.
  41. Did Bill ever see any infected? That town looked safe to me. We haven’t seen him interact with any.
  42. Infected, or Frank?
  43. There’s the infected.
  44. Bill’s traps! I’m so glad that was included.
  45. So, Bill’s been there for four years and clearly doing fine.
  46. So, this is Frank.
  47. Honestly, I love that he got caught by one of Bill’s traps.
  48. Bill is not taking any chances. It’s why he’s survived so long.
  49. NOT THE ARBY’S CALLOUT
  50. Bill has hot water for showers. He really is living the good life.
  51. The wonder in Frank’s face at the meal is so good.
  52. Is that a connection I see? I think it is.
  53. Why am I tearing up over Frank playing the piano?
  54. Damn, Bill is good at this.
  55. It’s a guy, Frank.
  56. HE KNOWS
  57. YES
  58. GIVE US THIS LOVE STORY
  59. The emotion in Frank’s eyes. God. This is such good acting.
  60. Bill is so new to it all and it makes it so much better. You’d assume he’s the all knowing one in this, but it’s Frank.
  61. Three years later. They’ve been together this long.
  62. THE GOVERMENT ARE ALL NAZIS. I’M CRYING
  63. Frank wants to fix up their home. This is actually so cute.
  64. They invited Tess and Joel over for lunch. I’m glad we get to see Tess again.
  65. I would be running a book trade.
  66. Frank’s the one who came up with the radio codes. Brilliant.
  67. So, this is ten years after the outbreak.
  68. Frank is making Bill run. I need a Frank.
  69. Bill marveling at a strawberry is such a poignant moment.
  70. That little giggle was precious.
  71. SAVE THE STRAWBERRIES
  72. Oh no. It’s raiders. Take them out Bill!
  73. Is Bill out there shooting?
  74. Oh, Bill is preparing Frank for his death. That hurts my heart too.
  75. The fact that Bill was ready for Joel to help Frank shows how much he grew to trust him.
  76. Wait, wait. Frank is in a wheelchair now. Why? What happened to him?
  77. The makeup team did a great job showing the years on them.
  78. I’m going to guess Frank wants to die because he doesn’t like Bill having to take care of him like this.
  79. In the first episode, it ended with either Frank or Bill playing an 80’s song, meaning danger. What danger was it?
  80. Yep, Frank is ready for death.
  81. I can understand Frank, but also, poor Bill. This must break his heart.
  82. Why does this show want to make me cry so much?
  83. NOT THEM GETTING MARRIED
  84. GOD, THIS SHOW HURTS
  85. I am also sobbing, Bill.
  86. Bill, make the man some damn toast.
  87. I wonder if there was a wheelchair in the town, or if Joel and Tess had to find one for them.
  88. Is it the same meal as the first one he ever made for him? God, I can’t handle this.
  89. This is supposed to be about a zombie apocalypse. NOT ABOUT MY HEART BREAKING
  90. Will Joel and Ellie get there right before Frank passing, or right after?
  91. I wonder how many bottles of wine Bill and Frank drank over the 20 years?
  92. OH MY GOD
  93. Bill also put drugs in the bottle to kill himself too.
  94. I honestly didn’t see that coming.
  95. So, will Joel and Ellie find them both dead?
  96. This is such a beautiful love story and I applaud the creators of the show for giving it the depth and love it deserves.
  97. How much time has passed since they took the drugs?
  98. Or was it the literal day before they got there?
  99. Joel knows something is up since the door was unlocked and no one challenged them.
  100. Not Bill writing hehehehe.
  101. This is such a Bill letter.
  102. To keep Tess safe. Oh, my heart.
  103. Grieve, Joel. Just let it out.
  104. Bill left Joel a nice truck.
  105. This is a good scene from the game.
  106. Time for more looting.
  107. Oh, so that’s why the 80’s songs were playing. To show that he was in trouble since he didn’t reset the music.
  108. The toilet paper. Yes!
  109. Ellie, don’t break the clock.
  110. Oh. Ellie found the one gun that was not in the bunker.
  111. Oh, Bill really did have the good stuff. Deodorant.
  112. I love the references Ellie makes to space.
  113. That pullback into the room where the bodies were. Beautiful.
  114. I honestly didn’t expect this from the episode about Bill, but I appreciate it so much. This was a beautifully written, acted, directed, everything.
  115. There was only one infected in the entire episode. So different from the game.
