Money Heist: Korea Episode 1 Review

  1. All right. I know the names are the same, but is the story going to be the same?
  2. BTS music immediately.
  3. Is this character Tokyo? If so, she has a really different story already.
  4. Okay, we are in 2025.
  5. What does the smell of hope smell like?
  6. Migration broker. Sounds sketchy right away.
  7. Capitalism, the true villain.
  8. She became a waitress, and then an escort. Korean dream is equivalent to the American dream it seems.
  9. Dude is really trying to get her addicted to drugs.
  10. She isn’t wrong, but also, that wasn’t a good place to say it.
  11. YEAH, BEAT HIS ASS
  12. You know, I think he died.
  13. I mean, he’s dead, so he won’t miss it. And he was going to rape her. F*ck him.
  14. Okay, she we hopped to what seems to be a similar story as in the original, with the main character getting caught in a shootout and her partner being killed.
  15. And here’s the Professor.
  16. Oh, she was ready to kill herself. Damn.
  17. Toyko is a Robinhood character, stealing from the rich.
  18. The crew looks awesome.
  19. Denver and Rio seem to have the same traits as the original, except Denver is a street fighter.
  20. Rio is quite adorable.
  21. What does doing bad things have to do with Toyko?
  22. Only the rich got richer. Sounds familiar.
  23. The Unified Korea Mint. Let’s go.
  24. Buddy, calm down. Your blinds are open.
  25. Oh, I love that purple wig.
  26. Similar masks and still creepy.
  27. Just a random barricade in the road, totally normal.
  28. Why no photos on a tour? That’s just weird.
  29. Did this asshole who runs a bank say capitalism scares him because of people like him?
  30. Oh, so she’s not pregnant?
  31. Interesting how they aren’t using masks or anything right now so people can identify them. I know they will be locked inside, but still.
  32. Why is she really leaving the bathroom like that? Hiding in there could be safer since she doesn’t know it’s a hostage situation.
  33. Okay, she went back in and made a call. Wonder how that will factor in.
  34. For such a large building, it doesn’t seem like there’s that many hostages.
  35. Please, I do not need Denver to do that laugh.
  36. Time to bath in some money.
  37. Can the hostages sit down? My legs hurt just looking at them.
  38. No one gets hurt or dies. Perfect setup for someone to get hurt or die.
  39. Rio’s a bit bloodthirsty it seems.
  40. Did someone get hit?
  41. OH yep, there goes Rio.
  42. Throw the money. Let’s have a money dance.
  43. In Korea, aren’t men required to go into the military? Or am I wrong?
  44. In this timeline, I suppose it may not be required.
  45. Look at the two countries working together.
  46. Time to all wear the same clothes.
  47. Berlin, your word means little. It’s also slimy.
  48. Did they really put a wire through the plumbing?
  49. Ugh, toxic males. At least listen to the woman who is also a professional your dumbo.
  50. They were going to skip steps immediately? Dude. Read the rulebook.
  51. YEAH TELL HIM SEON
  52. The back and forth between Seon and the Professor is great.
  53. Good move Professor. Only four of them. It makes them try to figure out if it was a slip up or not.
  54. WHY WON’T ANYONE LISTEN TO THE INTELLIGENT WOMAN WHO MAKES SENSE?
  55. Men, just ugh.
  56. Time for a failure of infiltration.
  57. Oh, the Professor had her pegged even before the heist.
  58. So, he owns the cafe Seon frequents. I wonder how that cafe operates while he teaches the gang.
  59. Does the Professor already like her or is just using her?
  60. Now they have to determine if they shoot randomly or not.
  61. The U.S. Ambassador’s daughter is their prize hostage. Can’t risk hurting her.
  62. His base of operations is behind the cafe. Interesting.
  63. Tokyo is more protective of the Professor because he saved her from killing herself.
  64. They just want to get the economy back up and running with that money. That’s all.

I like the changes they made to this version. It gives it new life. But I am curious about more plot holes, such as the Professor owning a cafe that’s been open for two months. How has he kept it open without any issues? Tokyo seems much more stone faced and her feelings are less exposed. Rio is more childlike, and Denver gives me more of a jock personality. Berlin really matches the original character, and we haven’t seen enough of the other characters yet to see how they compare to the originals. Though, I can say the Arturo character (whose name I didn’t catch in this one) still angers me and I would be fine without his presence at all.
