Stranger Things Rewatch Season 1

Chapter 1: The Vanishing of Will Byers

  1. I forgot how eerie the show was, right from the start.
  2. That alarm was the first jump scare and they just never stop.
  3. You know, I don’t think the doctor guy makes it.
  4. For someone who hates horror movies, I’m surprised I made it past that first few moments when I first watched it.
  5. Oh, I forgot they played dungeons and dragons.
  6. Mike and the gang were the original Twitch streamers, going for over ten hours.
  7. I love Dustin so much.
  8. Damn, that foreshadowing from Will.
  9. Don’t hurt the dog mr demigorgon.
  10. Why did it target Will anyway? Was that ever explained?
  11. Will is packing some heat. Too bad it didn’t help.
  12. That theme music though. Goosebumps.
  13. Maybe I’m not remembering correctly, but didn’t Netflix claim they weren’t going to show smoking in shows at some point. When was that?
  14. You know, I remember everyone cheering Joyce on, but she was rather curt in the beginning with Jonathon.
  15. Wait, are these the two bullies that Eleven wrecks? They deserve it.
  16. Justice for Barb. Always justice for Barb.
  17. I forgot that I hated Steve in the beginning. God, that character arc that made me forgot that. Bravo to the writers.
  18. F*ck Lonnie.
  19. Do we ever see Lonnie?
  20. Either way, f*ck him.
  21. So, the elevator is working fine, but not the lights?
  22. Baby Eleven. God, they are so young in this season.
  23. Does the owner of that restaurant die? I feel like he dies.
  24. I wish I had a hidden house in the woods like that.
  25. Also, how did a kid build that and make it so sturdy?
  26. Baby Eleven tugs at my heart. I want to fight everyone who hurt her.
  27. How’d they know that was his bike? It could have been anyone’s.
  28. Jonathon is such a calm person. Does he every lose his cool?
  29. I want to pet that dog so badly.
  30. All the dad does is yell “language.”
  31. I completely forgot Hopper had a daughter who died.
  32. The relationship between Hopper and Eleven later on gives me the Last of Us vibes.
  33. Not Steve climbing up the house.
  34. Oh, oh no. He’s dead for sure.
  35. Yep, blonde lady is sketchy.
  36. And there’s the death. Poor guy. He was just trying to help a lost girl.
  37. If there’s anything Lost taught me, bad things happen when it starts to rain.
  38. How can her parents not hear Steve talking?
  39. Closer than you think Joyce.
  40. Damn, Will was communicating from the Upside Down immediately.
  41. The dramatic meeting in the rain.

Chapter 2: The Weirdo on Maple Street

  1. Dustin, you don’t ask someone if they have cancer like that.
  2. I wonder how they got Eleven to Mike’s house in the first place.
  3. God, I just want to give Eleven a hug.
  4. Aw, Mike thinks his plan will work. That’s so cute.
  5. It says a lot that El trusted Mike enough to actually sleep there.
  6. I don’t even know my own breathing, Joyce.
  7. Yes, I remember the eggos.
  8. Damn Mike. Human anatomy lol.
  9. Why am I literally tearing up while El tells Mike about the bad people?
  10. I’m so glad Steve gets better friends later on. I despise these teens.
  11. Even Barb is uncomfortable around Jonathan. And she’s supposed to be the nice friend.
  12. Who holds an assembly at 8 pm?
  13. I’ve always disliked Lucas the most out of the friend group.
  14. Oh my god, this is so wholesome. El and Mike are adorable.
  15. Baseball games and arcades are both normal things.
  16. These guys are so lucky the Byers live away from everyone else in town. But also, wouldn’t their dog be barking?
  17. Oh god, I forgot El called that one doctor dude Papa.
  18. And they locked her up for who knows how long. Oh god. This show hurts my heart.
  19. Oh, baby El crying. I want to cry.
  20. RIP Benny.
  21. They really made it look like Benny committed suicide. Damn.
  22. Lucas, get your hands off El.
  23. THE FIRST NOSEBLEED
  24. Oh yeah, Lonnie. The city life looks really great.
  25. Nancy, do not drag Barb to this party.
  26. You really used the “everyone’s going” line.
  27. Good save, Dustin. Good save.
  28. Friends share secrets, according to Mike.
  29. No Barb, don’t go.
  30. Wait, holdup. Who is that woman with Hopper?
  31. HE’S HIDING FROM THE DEMIGORGON
  32. Was anyone actually impressed by someone shotgunning a beer?
  33. Why must we hurt Barb this way?
  34. Will is really racking up the electricity bills with all these fried phones.
  35. That music jump scare got me.
  36. Morse code, right? He’s using morse code.
  37. Oh damn, that was not what I needed to see before bed.
  38. Joyce is one tough mom. I’d be gone after all that.
  39. Nancy was really a terrible friend to Barb. Forced her to lie about staying at her house, asking for her to keep her from getting out of hand, and then sending her home.
  40. How deep was that cut if it’s still bleeding?
  41. Nope. Not sleeping tonight.

Chapter 3: Holly Jolly

  1. God, Barb did not deserve any of this.
  2. This editing choice between Nancy getting it on and Barb trying to escape is great.
  3. And there goes Barb. We hardly knew her.
  4. So, Nancy, you slept with jerk Steve. How’d that feel?
  5. Nancy really gives off good girl energy, but she never was the “perfect” good girl.
  6. Anyone would think Joyce was losing it, so I don’t blame Jonathan for reacting like that.
  7. I am Dustin, bringing all the snacks.
  8. El just staring at Dustin is so funny to me.
  9. Well look at that, she can make it fly.
  10. Not He-man.
  11. That Coke product placement is so in your face.
  12. Nosebleed count: 2
  13. That poor dog has no idea what Joyce is doing.
  14. Dr. Brenner, that’s his name.
  15. Oh, no rain. Hopper got him.
  16. El wandering around the house gives me such ET vibes.
  17. Honestly, I can’t stand Steve’s friends.
  18. I really don’t like Lucas. He’s such a brat.
  19. I’m surprised no one tried to get Joyce locked up. She’s acting so erratically. Viewers get it, but not the people in the show.
  20. Damn Hopper. What a player.
  21. No Holly. Don’t follow the lights. This is horror movie 101.
  22. Poor Holly will be scarred for life.
  23. It’s not called stalking if this is the only time he’s done anything.
  24. Also, fuck you Steve.
  25. Cat. I want to pet the cat.
  26. Crap, they did experiments with cats. Nope, I don’t like this.
  27. And El refused to hurt the cat, which is why she was locked up like we saw before.
  28. Oh damn, El killed two guys just like that.
  29. Time for some more magic lights.
  30. I want a hidey hole like that.
  31. Damn, Joyce was so smart using the letters and lights like that.
  32. No grand conspiracy, hahaha.
  33. Well hello there mr demogorgon.
  34. I completely forgot that they staged Will’s death.
  35. Mike, don’t yell at El.

Chapter 4: The Body

  1. Trying to imagine yourself in Joyce’s position is so hard. I wonder how anyone would react with all of this happening.
  2. Will, why not try to communicate with Jonathan there too?
  3. At least Mike let El come back to the basement.
  4. Nosebleed count: 3
  5. This is way too much for Jonathan to handle.
  6. Steve, stop worrying about getting in trouble with your parents. Barb is missing.
  7. Lucas, I want to slap you.
  8. Stop calling her a weirdo, Lucas.
  9. Lucas’ face when Mike completely flubbed that compliment was great.
  10. Let’s send someone into the creepy hole into another dimension. No problems there.
  11. So, they staged a body, but there’s way too many people there to make it look like just an accidental drowning.
  12. Bad place, you mean Missouri?
  13. Dustin is me when people are looking at me. Abort.
  14. I don’t think he’s getting out. Just my opinion.
  15. Maybe stop dragging it.
  16. Rock on El. She just used the best way of retaliating.
  17. Nosebleed count: 4
  18. Jeez, Jonathan is looking at caskets alone.
  19. Hopper is damn smart. He’s picking up all the clues.
  20. And now here’s street Hopper.
  21. I hate Brenner. He’s such a creep.
  22. Nosebleed count: 5
  23. Joyce just made a new window in her house.
  24. I’m honestly surprised the demogorgon could even be seen in a photo.
  25. Hopper tried one lie, failed, and punched his way instead.
  26. I wonder what kid that was. Another kid they experimented on perhaps?
  27. Or not a kid at all.
  28. A really creepy doll. No thank you.
  29. Ugh, I don’t like Lonnie.

Chapter 5: The Flea and the Acrobat

  1. Hopper being sneaky.
  2. Sneaking into a quarantine zone is never a good idea.
  3. Lonnie’s first idea to help is to drink. I feel like that’s not the best first step.
  4. Come on Jonathan. Come home and kick your deadbeat dad out of the house.
  5. I just love how it’s the kids who really figure out where Will is. Kids are always smarter in these shows.
  6. Dungeons and Dragons were spot on, huh?
  7. Kick his ass, Jonathan.
  8. The dog going to Will’s hideout because he misses him hurts my heart.
  9. These creeps need to stop staging things. They threw Hopper back in his home and made it look like alcohol and drugs were the reason why he saw everything.
  10. All Brenner cares about is getting El back. Dude needs a reality check.
  11. There’s been so many search parties and everything for Will, but none of that for Barb. Justice for Barb.
  12. “Less athletic types.” Bite me mr. principal.
  13. Why did Mr. Clarke use an acrobat and a flea for this example? Such random choices.
  14. Don’t call Joyce babe. You’re divorced.
  15. Poor El is so scared, and I would be too.
  16. The iconic Nancy outfit that’s seen in DBD.
  17. Damnit Lonnie. I had no expectations for you, and you still failed to meet that.
  18. Did he really blame Joyce for Will’s “death”? What a terrible piece of crap.
  19. Jonathan, your aim is terrible.
  20. Nancy could shoot your eye out.
  21. If you’ve seen Stitchers, you would agree that this setup of the bath reminds me of that show.
  22. That helmet did not strap into anything. How do they keep the water out of there?
  23. Nosebleed count: 6
  24. Finally, Hopper is telling Joyce she’s not crazy.
  25. Don’t yell at her Mike, she’s trying to help!
  26. Time to spy on Russians.
  27. I did not need a dying deer. But also foreshadowing from earlier when Jonathan said he liked Thumper.
  28. NOPE NOPE NOPE
  29. My soul just left my body. I was not ready for that jump scare.
  30. Do not enter the creepy tunnel in a tree alone.
  31. That poor deer.
  32. Uh oh, the gate in the tree is closing.

Chapter 6: The Monster

  1. The demogorgon should have been able to find Nancy so easily. She was screaming Jonathan’s name so loudly.
  2. And now that gate is closed. No more deer for the demogorgon.
  3. Damn it Steve. Worst time to spy on Nancy.
  4. I’m sorry. Sleeping with a gun in your hand is such a bad idea. You could easily shoot yourself in your sleep.
  5. I forgot how smart Nancy really was.
  6. This lady again. Mr. Clarke, run!
  7. At least El had a teddy bear.
  8. Mrs. Wheeler knows how to pick a lock. A useful skill.
  9. Lucas is such a brat. I get he wants to find Will, but come on. They need El.
  10. You lie Brenner. You lie.
  11. El walking out like a boss with all the eggos.
  12. Dang. How many people does Brenner have in this damn town?
  13. Is El Jane?
  14. El is Jane.
  15. Poor Terry.
  16. Yeah, Lucas. This is not a smart idea.
  17. How can Nancy and Jonathan afford this? Joyce had to get an advance for the telephone.
  18. Steve, this is when your dickness really shined.
  19. Steve deserved that.
  20. Yeah, that was all on Nancy. And Steve for being a piece of crap.
  21. He really didn’t assault a police officer though. The officer was in direct line of fire from a punch behind Jonathan. Of course, he would get hit.
  22. Not these two little bullies again.
  23. Did the other bully get left in the dust?
  24. Oh nope. Trap.
  25. And here comes El to save the day.
  26. Nosebleed count: 7
  27. El is so dramatic with that entrance and I love her.
  28. Yeah, run you little twerps.
  29. Nosebleed count: 8
  30. Yes Dustin, join the group hug.
  31. Crap, dude has spotted El.

Chapter 7: The Bathtub

  1. El, you are pretty and Mike is so awkward.
  2. Thank god Lucas alerted them.
  3. I too, have left the country.
  4. How did Mrs. Wheller not notice all those care in front of the house?
  5. Where’s a cop to pull them over for speeding when you need it?
  6. That also works. Just throw the cars.
  7. Nosebleed count: 9
  8. Good job Lucas. Apologize like a true friend.
  9. Are they allowed to go through his car?
  10. Mr. Wheeler asking the right questions.
  11. Brenner, I trust people creepily standing in alleys in the middle of the night more than I trust you.
  12. Oh, we’ve got a Karen in the house.
  13. Steve, you’re looking pretty rough pal.
  14. I wonder if the demogorgon gets Tommy. If not, I hope so.
  15. The gang’s almost all together now.
  16. You know, Steve really got destroyed by Jonathan.
  17. Good boy Steve. You’re getting better now.
  18. Trust the government. Ha.
  19. How did creepy mustache dude know where to go?
  20. Thank you Hopper.
  21. Mr. Clarke on a date with the librarian I think.
  22. The fact their teacher just knows how to make a sensory deprivation tank is hilarious.
  23. Both denials are so weak from Nancy and Mike.
  24. El really needed these caring adults in her life.
  25. I did not know an egg will float if you put enough salt in the water. I’m learning things.
  26. Barbara deserved so much more.
  27. I want my own castle.
  28. Nosebleed count: 10
  29. Vengeful Nancy has arrived and will beat your ass.
  30. What a great security guard.
  31. I swear, these jump scares will be the end of me.

Chapter 8: The Upside Down

  1. It took Will, Barbara, the two guys out hunting, that one scientist guy, and who else?
  2. They think Hopper is a spy.
  3. The iconic bat with nails in it.
  4. The smiley face yoyo is so drastically out of place.
  5. Yeah, Hopper is not really giving them up. He’s too much of a badass for that.
  6. Did Brenner expect them to be killed and that’s why he let them go in?
  7. What did Hopper’s daughter die of?
  8. I love Dustin so much. Must obtain chocolate pudding.
  9. Steve, brace yourself.
  10. Steve is so underprepared for everything going on right now.
  11. So, Sarah had cancer.
  12. Steve is losing it right now.
  13. Honestly, smart move Steve. Run for your damn life.
  14. Nancy, I don’t think that gun’s working.
  15. Good man Steve. Use the bat and beat it up.
  16. I thought they would let the house catch on fire. Glad they had an extinguisher.
  17. That was too easy. It’s not dead yet.
  18. Eggos are real food. Don’t put eggos down like that.
  19. Poor Mike. Feelings are hard.
  20. Mike really went in for that kiss. No fear.
  21. Hopper did tell them. Dang.
  22. Nosebleed count: 11
  23. El really just squeezed their brains to kill them. I need a kill count for El.
  24. The blood has attracted the demogorgon. Yikes.
  25. Look at the demogorgon coming in clutch for once and letting them get El away.
  26. Glad Brenner was killed that way. Suck it.
  27. That gunfire sounded like popcorn. I should make some.
  28. You really think a rock will kill it?
  29. LET’S GO EL!
  30. Nosebleed count: 12
  31. Demogorgon is getting dusted Thanos style.
  32. Will has to have a broken rib from that.
  33. Will is such a gentle soul.
  34. Steve is still so beat up and it’s so funny to me.
  35. So, do Lucas and Dustin’s parents just not really care?
  36. Yes Nancy, someone needs to remember Barb.
  37. Time jump.
  38. Jonathan came to get Will this time. All of this would have been prevented had Jonathan done this before.
  39. I forgot that Nancy is still dating Steve.
  40. Hopper leaves food for El and it’s so cute.
  41. Good dog. Eat the food.
  42. And there’s some demogorgon tendril. Yuck.
  43. What a way to keep us hyped up for the next season.

I forgot a lot of what happened in this first season, and I’m so glad I rewatched it. I really hated Lucas for a lot of hate, and I think I disliked him more than Steve. Still disliked Steve though. The character arc Steve gets in this season and the next two is amazing and I’m happy to rewatch that as well.

On to season two.
